Folder Restore tool
>>> Information about: Lialis Folder Restore Tool for Lotus Notes
| Unitiv's Intelligent Help Desk | Rating: 5 stars
Reviewer: Ike Aig
Definitely a tool to have in your arsenal as a Lotus Notes
Developer/Adminstrator. One less thing to worry about in my environment
where the average user mail inbox comprises a structure of nested folders
with dozens of documents within. Now I don't have to worry about restoring
databases from a backup or an end user having to recreate an entire
document folder structure from memory.

Licenses
Lialis is very experienced in investigating the license structure of the customer. After the investigation Lialis will deliver an advice about the renewal and/or extension of the Lotus Domino licenses. If the demands for the Lotus Domino structure has changed (new Lotus Domino server, new functionalities, more employees, foreign sites, extension company), there is a good chance it is less expensive to switch to another license structure. When the customer has to buy new licenses, Lialis always make sure that the renewal date of new license is similar to the existing licenses. This is less complex to administer in the future.
 | 2009.
Give advice about an extension of the current Lotus Domino licenses with a limited budget. As a result of this advice the customer has reinstated the existing Lotus Domino licenses (this is not obligatory, but Lialis always advice to do this) and the customer has withdrawn the idea of clustering. Lialis investigated the options of purchasing new licenses; a CEO bundle was not allowed while the customer doesn't have enough employees and the purchase of Utility Express server licenses, which was too expensive. Lialis supported the customer by implementing an alternative solution for clustering. |

With the Collaboration Express licenses the customer is allowed to run Lotus Domino servers without server licenses. This license structure is limited to 1000 employees and the customer is not allowed to cluster the Lotus Domino servers. |
 | 2009.
Give advice about an extension of the current Lotus Domino licenses. This customer also is going to implement two new Lotus Domino servers. For this customer it is less expensive to purchase a new CEO bundle, while this customer wants to cluster the Lotus Domino servers. With the CEO bundle, there is no limitation for the number of employees and it is no longer necessary for the customer to renew the Lotus Domino Designer licenses. The CEO bundle will give a profit of more than 7.000 euro for this year and 2.000 euro in the years to come. |

This migration wasn't performed correctly and therefore the information in the application cannot be trusted. Lialis performed several activities, Lialis logged user activity information about the four applications and developed an agent to correctly migrate the information from the four applications to the leading application (no double information). The other applications were phased out. In a later stage, the application design of this main application was modified even more, after which other applications were merged into this application as well. When all the information was stored centrally, another application, used for creating orders, was modified to be able to use the information in the central application during the creation of a new order. Activities: This Lotus Domino environment contains many Lotus Domino servers, with each their own Domino Directory. The person documents in the separate Domino directories are gathered in one special lookup application. In R7 it is possible to just have one lookup application. |

Activities: Default Notes mail file users are able to send and receive mail to/from internal and external mail addresses. For this customer Lialis modified the mail file template and developed a central management application in which each mail is stored temporarily. In this application an agent checks the ip address of the user. Users with an ip address in a specified ip range are not able to send or receive mail from external mail addresses. The administrators are able to release an email and to modify the ip range. In a later stage the application is extended with a configuration document in which can be determined if the information about the processed emails must be logged in a separate logging application, which information must be stored and the location of the log application. |

Activities: For this customer, Lialis has modified several applications. For one application the creation of project folders was automated, a Notes client installation for home users was configured and automated, a problem with a print button was solved and this customer had a problem with a reports application. The problem was that when a wrong email address was added to send the report to, each mail address in line after the wrong email address, did not receive the report and the log information was not added. Therefore it looks like the report was not sent at all. Lialis added a code to the application which checks the correctness of the mail addresses. |
 | 2007.
